White Rose Exhibit (Die Weisse Rose)

March 20th-29th Bloomsburg University Kehr Union – Mulicultural Center

WhiteRose

An exhibition exploring one of Germany’s most famous resistance groups formed by a small group of university students in 1942-43 in Munich. This group actively fought against the oppression of civil liberties and the persecution of Jews, and demanded an end to the war.

There will be a seminar on the White Rose on March 27 from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Mulitcultural Center. Students in Dr. Springman’s German courses will be giving presentations.

During the duration of the exhibition the German Club will be showing two different films about The White Rose. (see below)

Yuengling Brewery Tour!

The German Club will be planning a trip to the Yuengling Brewery, in Pottsville, for November 19th.  We are currently in the process of reserving a van.  This was a fun trip last Fall and should be again this year.

Stammtisch

German Club will be having a Stammtisch on Thursday, October 13th at 6:00pm at Scranton Commons. (Bloomsburg University’s main dining hall on lower campus situated between Kehr Union, Elwell, Lycoming, and Carver)

This is a great opportunity to practice your German while getting to know others in the German program. We welcome speakers of all abilities, from absolute beginner to completely fluent.

Officer Elections will be held next Monday Oct. 3rd at 6:00pm in OSH 220.

Afterwards we will discuss Club Events and work on a puzzle of Neuschwanstein which we will glue and hang as a decoration when we are finished.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Trip

On Thursday the 9th of April, five members of the German Club,(along with three international students, and a student from Dr. Springman’s German Culture and Civilization II class) went on a trip to Washington DC to see the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Many Thanks to Dr. Springman for driving, planning, and making it all possible.
